Effective Meeting Structures in an MTSS/RTI Practice
In this webinar, Dawn Kulpa, the Director of MTSS/SEL at San Antonio Independent School District, together with Dr. Eva Dundas, Chief Learning Officer of Branching Minds, and Karen Castle, Director of Professional Learning at Branching Minds, discussed:
-
different meeting structures and objectives in a MTSS/RTI model;
-
how to effectively problem-solve at the school, grade/content team, and individual student level;
-
highlight some common successes and challenges districts face when adopting these practices; and,
-
how this practice has evolved at San Antonio Independent School District with the support of Branching Minds.
Some key takeaways from this webinar were:
-
the evolution of current meetings teachers have to take on more of a problem-solving lens, such as PLC meetings (rather than adding more meetings );
-
the optimization of meetings to look for patterns and responses at the tier 1 and 2 level so that there are fewer individual student meetings required; and,
-
agendas and formats for guiding each of those tier 1, 2 and 3 meeting types to streamline and improve productivity within those meetings.
