September 4, 2024 -- Branching Minds, a leading provider of Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) solutions, is thrilled to announce that more than half of all Wyoming students are being supported on the platform as the new school year gets underway. Since the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) made access to the Branching Minds platform and professional services tools, districts across the state have begun leveraging the tool to enhance student outcomes and streamline educational processes.
The adoption of Branching Minds in Wyoming is part of a broader initiative to support districts in implementing systematic and effective MTSS processes. The platform's tools and resources are designed to assist educators in intervention planning, documentation, and progress monitoring, ensuring compliance with state standards and promoting student success. Schools across Wyoming that wish to leverage Branching Minds are able to do so at no cost to them. Numerous districts have enrolled in previous months, including most recently, Laramie 1 and Goshen 1
Several of the districts that have adopted Branching Minds are already reporting noticeable success across various measures, including Crook County and Lincoln County 2.
Crook County has seen significant improvements in documentation and process consistency with Branching Minds. A representative from the district shared, "Our staff and our teachers across our district needed a more effective and systematic way to document what we were already doing with students. We are trying to establish a system district-wide with our processes for MTSS."
The district's MTSS coordinator noted, "Prior to the creation of an MTSS coordinator position in our district, documentation wasn't typically happening at the secondary schools, and each elementary school utilized their own process/methods. There was no consistent district-wide process for MTSS implementation or documentation which is what Branching Minds is helping us to achieve."
“Our scores have really made a significant jump since we've used Branching Minds. We had so much success in both our ELA and math and our proficiency. We were definitely more focused and data-driven last year than we ever have been.”

By focusing on research-based interventions and progress monitoring tools that meet educational guidelines, Crook County is now able to effectively support student needs. "I can look back now because everything was uploaded in the supporting documents from last year, what happened last year with this student, what meetings occurred, and what was talked about in these meetings. I think that the longevity of this and looking at students over time and what has happened and what has been in place for them is a positive aspect.”

Lincoln County 2 has also reported substantial benefits from implementing Branching Minds. K-3 Reading Interventionist and Title 1 Coordinator Jodee Nelson emphasized the transformation, stating, “We all wanted the same things. We all want the kids to be successful, but we were just doing it in different ways and a lot of work.”
Before Branching Minds, documentation practices varied widely among teachers. "Some of us were putting just bare-bones stuff in a spreadsheet, while other teachers were putting narratives in the spreadsheet. Some had things color-coded. Some had things that no one else had."
Since adopting the platform, Lincoln County 2 has seen more focused and data-driven MTSS meetings. "One thing that we've been very successful with is those MTSS meetings that we have monthly with each grade level. We've been able to really hone in on certain things, and we can keep those meetings very data-driven. We're actually spending less time meeting.”
Most importantly, Lincoln County 2 has witnessed a significant improvement in student performance. “Our scores have really made a significant jump since we've used Branching Minds. We had so much success in both our ELA and math and our proficiency. We were definitely more focused and data-driven last year than we ever have been.”
